Aguilar Course Goals

Below are the goals for my Foundations of College Writing Course.
For each goal, I've selected work that demonstrates how I addressed that goal during the course,
and explained how, citing specific examples from my work.

Goal
My Work
My explanation
Goal A - Students will be able to compose
for particular audiences and purposes
I wrote a paper on an interview of my sister
that asked her different questions about the
types of writing she does in that field. When
I wrote the paper I specifically wrote for my
professor to read it but I also wrote it for people
who are intrested in learning about the writings
that education major professionals do through
their everday lives.
It makes it easy for people who are intrested in the
education field to briefly learn what they can potentially
do in the future. Making it for a particular audience
eliminates people who are not intrested in the topic.
Goal B - Students will be able to compose using
language and conventions appropriate to genre

Goal C - Students will be able to read, select, and use
evidence critically to formulate and support arguments
At the beginning of each Literature Group I chose
an important passage that I thought was very
important part of the book,
later I will use it to create
an essay on my book called "crank". When I start
to compose my essay it will be easier for me to pull
information that will be useful for my essay.
This is important and very useful to learn how to do because
when it comes time to start the essay or professional writings
it makes it easier to point out the important information rather
than the information that is not suitable for the particular
topic. At the end it makes the essay more uniform.
Goal D - Students will be able to interpret and compose in
a variety of media and print/non-print genres

Goal E - Students will be able to describe and apply
appropriate writing processes, both individually
and in collaborative contexts
Every time I have a peer review with my classmates
I make sure I come prepared with questions. It could be
questions on grammar correction, formatting, or appearance.
I specifically did this when I brought in my newspaper genre to class.
I asked questions on its appearance and how I could make it look
more like a real newspaper. My classmates gave me
critical feedback and I used that to my advantage to make my genre look better
I did this so I could know what exactly to change to
make it more appealing to people reading my genre.
I want the reader to know what genre it is right away
without second guessing. When i get good feedback
from my classmates the next time i compose the same
genre or one similar to it, I will know what kind of
components to include.
